Well. I made it. This far at least. North Island. Done
:/). Can’t stop smiling. Today I walked into Wellington, along streets and up to the Botanic Gardens (which are AWESOME).
It’s then a fun walk down to the harbour. So full of people and activity! I feel a bit like Homer Simpson (oohhh, lights and movement, lights and movement) and I’m constantly distracted and captured by what’s happening around me.
I follow the bay around and head up the Southern Walkway to Mt Victoria. It’s fitting that the North Island trail ends with a hike up a mountain.
It’s seriously gorgeous up here. A few scenes from the LOTR were filmed here and it is easy to see why.
And that folks is my day. I’m done. I’m here. I made it.
I’m off now to a five star hotel (if they don’t reject me that is, I am so manky).
I am going I have the longest hot shower. Wash my clothes. Eat fresh vegetables. Have a drink. Sleep in a bed. With sheets! Oh my...
Before that though, I’m hiking down Mt Victoria to sit at the water’s edge and just sit. And give thanks. My heart is full of gratitude. I’m here, safe and injury free.
And feeling blessed to have had this adventure.
I’ve been alone but not on my own. Ancestors have walked with me, every step, every day.
And so have you! Thanks for reading. I wish I had better words, better photos. I have been 100% supported by my ‘work’ family and my ‘friends and family’ family. Thank you with all of my heart.
My spirit is soaring. My tank is full. This is what freedom and peace feels like.
As I look out over the water I see a small ray, swimming along right next to the rock wall.
It doesn’t get better...
It’s chilly Wellington summer weather. Time to get that drink sorted. :/)
Im on the top of the top of Mt Victoria. Trig point 2500m. Smiling because I earned it!
Trees Mt Victoria.
I feel free as a bird. But not this bird. It looks like it has dubious seagull/duck parentage.
Seaduck? Duckgull? (My friend David B assures me this is a blackbacked gull)
Park bench. Mt Victoria.
Couldn’t have said it better!
