Day 14 Paihia to Opua Wharf 2km TA246, ferry and then to Waikare Landing 21km TA 267

I set off this morning with a spring to my step.

It might be the big sleep I had last night after the late afternoon meal of fish and chips on the beach, (with that large side serving of heavy contemplation).

Or it could just be that I am wearing clean socks!

The first part of my day needed to be tackled at low tide. It’s a bit of a scramble in places, following the coastline around to Haumi Bay and then on to Opua, with fabulous views across the Veronica Channel.

I caught a ferry to Okiato and then it was back to hiking to Waikare. A fair bit of road walking this afternoon.

I’m not a fan...

Of course that is the track! For real! This is where I started my hike today. Only passable at low tide.

Told you!
